AWS offers many tools to help with managing your website. If you have a basic website, you can use their hosted zone to host your domains. You can set up your nameservers and subdomains, and manage your Resource record set and DNS configuration. The AWS documentation has more detailed options.
Nameservers
Nameservers are required to create a zone for Amazon Web Services hosting. There are several ways to do this. You can use Route 53 to handle DNS queries. Cloudfront can also be used.
This service uses the Route 53 resolver for private hosted zones, and a second CIDR Ip address for each VPC. This allows any resource in a VPC's VPC to resolve both public and private domain names. Routing policies and health check are the only restrictions. If you are willing to accept these limitations, Route 53 is a route to set-up split horizon DNS. This allows several hosting zones to be located on different IP addresses.
Subdomains
The DNS records for subdomains within an AWS hosted area are the same as those of the main domain. In the console of Amazon Route 53, you can create a new subdomain by typing the domain name in the domain name field and optionally entering a comment. AWS will store information about the subdomain in its hosted area.
Hosted zones include information about how to route traffic from domains and subdomains. DNS records are used by DNS to translate domain names in IP addresses. If a domain name does not match an IP address, it can be resolved using a name server. DNS failover can be used to failover domains to other hosts when one domain fails.
Configuration
You have many options for configuring AWS hosted zones. You can, for example, configure DNS queries to allow AWS services to be used. Cloudfront and Elastic Load Balancer can be configured. You can also configure S3 storage. Learn more by reading the documentation on AWS hosted zone.
A VPC can be used to create private or public hosted zones. The VPC associated name will be displayed. Note that this identifier may conflict with a zone-associated delegation set.
Prices
Amazon Route 53 can be used for domain name services on Amazon Web Services. This DNS service does not cost a lot for most companies. It costs $0.50 for the first 25 hosts zones, and $0.10 for each additional hosted zone. If you are only using a handful of hosted zone, you may consider limiting their number.
AWS hosted zones provide information about how to route traffic from a domain and its subdomains. Name servers use this information to translate domain names into IP addresses. DNS failover allows traffic to be redirected if one server is unavailable.
